Dried Kombu / Dried Kelp 다시마


Origin: Korea

Kombu/ Kelp is good for both making broth and eating. It is the key ingredients for making soup base for most of the Korean dishes like Ddeokbokgi/ Korean Army Stew etc.

Several dishes you can make with kombu/kelp:

🔹Kelp Bulgogi Kimbap 다시마 불고기 말이
🔹Kelp side dish 다시마 무침
🔹Kelp Rice
🔹Soup base for any dishes

Usually kelp/kombu comes in a big piece but we have already cut into slices so that you can use straight away.

How To Use To make Dashi or kelp stock:

1. Add 10g of kelp and 10g anchovies into approx. 1 litre of water and begin to bring to the boil.
2. After the water boils, let it simmer for 30-40mins.
3. Strain the kelp and anchovies and you can use in variety of cooking.

*The white powder coating on the kombu/kelp is not dirty or sea salt, it is actually glutamic umami. They are nutrients derived from kombu/kelp. When kombu starts to dry out, water evaporates but umami doesn't, and it stays as white powder on kombu/kelp.
